Cucumber-Basil Gimlet

Serves 2


1/4 English cucumber, sliced
1/2 lime, sliced
4 basil leaves
1 shot simple syrup or Rose's lime juice
2 shots gin
1 splash of soda

  1. Place the cucumber, lime and basil leaves in a shaker.
  2. Mash them with the back of a wood spoon (or a muddler) until broken up.
  3. Add the simple syrup and gin and fill the shaker with ice.
  4. Shake for 40 minutes (just kidding) 40 seconds and then strain into a bucket with ice.
  5. Finish with a splash of soda and garnish with cucumber slice, lemon or basil sprig.
